For me Panasonic and Sony are the two companies which know how to match an OLED panel with the software and chassis that it deserves. I guess if you use your TV's in vivid mode though, you won't notice. It's just so much better with upscaling and colour that it's not funny. I still have an LG B8 at home and while it has great uniformity, moving between it and the Sony A8H is night and day when it comes to watching regular content. Just getting the TV out of the box you can feel it with far less flex. Sony's build quality alone is worth the premium in my eyes over LG. Even VRR has issues on the LG CX which will never be able to be patched with raised blacks. LG's TV's released to the public are riddled with uniformity issues, bugs and other issues. I have gone through 8 LG CX's and settled on my first Sony A8H, that says it all. I am qualified to comment on how poor LG are. Some people will have you think HDMI 2.1 does much more than it actually does. This just leaves VRR and unless PC gaming, I don't think I'd pick an LG over a Sony for the same price for it, especially with all the bugs in it's current iteration. You will be hard pressed to see a major difference.

The Sony A8H does 1080P 120FPS gaming fine and upscales it very well.
Of the very few games which hit 120FPS, none do it natively at 4K without upscaling, and very few will be able to do it. ALLM is just auto game mode which the Sony A8H does anyway with my PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The Sony A8H does eARC which leaves just 4K 120FPS, VRR and ALLM as the LG CX's features. HDMI 2.1 is definitely not a must have, unless you are a serious PC gamer intending to use the TV as your monitor. Base your TV on its picture quality and uniformity as that is what will effect you on a day to day basis. The quality control and bugginess of LG's products can't be overstated (And yes I know LG make all OLED panels, but the quality of what they allow out to the customer is increasingly very poor). I'll cut a long story short, go for a Sony OLED.
